Fusion Marine, one of the world's leading suppliers of fish farming equipment, recently invested in some essential training from TWI to ensure its products are constructed and maintained to the highest standards and any costly and unnecessary flaws in fabrication are avoided.
Fusion Marine offers a one-stop-shop for the aquaculture industry, and as well as fish farm pens, supplies moorings, pontoons, anti-predator equipment, live fish transfer systems, feeding systems and hatcheries.
As more and more workers have been recruited by Fusion Marine, the need for skilled training to ensure quality control and best practice has increased. TWI, as a world expert in the field of plastics welding, was asked to train its workers on Hot Gas and Extrusion Welding to CSWIP certification. CSWIP provides internationally recognised, role-specific competence for people engaged in welding, joining, materials integrity and inspection. CSWIP certification schemes are UKAS-accredited to ISO/IEC 17024, the international standard for personnel certification. Armed with these certifications, Fusion Marine can demonstrate the competency of its welders and therefore its products, to clients.
The qualification programme consisted of theory and practical assessments. Successful completion by all six fabricators resulted in CSWIP qualification aligned to BS EN 13067.
Operations Manager Stephen Divers, from Fusion Marine commented, 'Investment in staff training and development is key to our business. Our products work in some extreme environments so it important we maintain a high standard of fabrication techniques'.
TWI delivers tailor-made courses for companies or self-sponsored individuals at basic, refresher and advanced levels covering all major industry sectors. Welding courses include:
